Stronger Resolutions

The new year is here! So many of us are searching to find a resolution worth sticking too. It is always okay to continue with old resolutions to stay fit, lose weight or save money. All of these would be great but, if you are choosing these just to say you have one it will be hard to follow through. There are an endless amount of resolutions to get you through your HAPPY new year. Keep in mind getting any goal accomplished is a struggle so, find someone with the same goals to help you push on. Thinking only of all the good coming this year will blind you to some of the not so nice times to follow. Saying 2014 will be only rainbows and sunshine would be lying to your self and could leave you unprepared for any hard times. Don't get me wrong I want everyone to be positive, not letting bad times hold them back or make them hesitant but, our past hard times came with lessons that shouldn't be left behind. Resolve to not forget your mistakes so you don't make the same ones twice or listen to that advice you so easily disregarded. The times you couldn't help but break down and cry, were taken as a fool or knocked down and stepped on, made you wiser, swifter and tougher don't ever forget it. The climb to your goals are rough but they are worth it and which ever new years resolution you choose remember you can and will overcome anything, you have already made it this far!

Special Occasions

'Tis the season to look your best. This is the time of year when you get invites to the best events before the year is over. Whether it's a holiday function with the family, an office party, traditional gatherings, or for any special occasion to come, it is going to take a whole lot of prep work to be the brightest in the crowd. If you have advance notice of said event, start using your favorite brand of body and facial hard scrub, to buff off old rough skin about two weeks prior. You can also choose to get an actual facial one week before the big day. Through the weeks leading to the spot light, treat hair to keratin infused shampoos or color savers so that you can maintain the same look up to your event and your hair doesn't go flat or give you a washed look. A week before is also a great time to go for the gold and get your spray tan on. In the winter, skin tones dull out and dry up. Going to the spray tanners a week early adds vitamins to the skin and as the count down begins the color settles. When the time comes and the night is finally here, use a moisturizer as a base for your make up. Apply two coats and allow time to dry between application. Once it is completely dry, keep your look simple, classic and clean. Shine as your most beautiful polished you.

The season of giving ... great tips! ;-)

Little Monster

For this Halloween I have decided to make a few costumes for close family members. I have started with my niece who is going to be The Terrible Two's Monster. I have started from the bottom with these cute little googlie eyes shoes. These shoes can be used for other costumes like a spider ,a witch or for everyday cool flats for school.

side ways picture but you get the idea

things to use:
tape- I used scotch tape
glue- I used E600 but you can use mod podge
glitter- any color will due but ours is black and fine
googlie eyes- different sizes is best.
spreading tool- Popsicle stick are great I used the back side of a key because I like how the spaces in the key take out the extra glue.

step1:

tape off all the edges that you don't want glue or extra glitter to get on.

stuff the shoes with tissue paper and place thin cardboard paper around the inside heal area so the shoes will keep there shape while you work with them.

its a good idea to wear gloves during this project glitter and glue will get in the way when its stuck to you.

step 2:

I trimmed the edges of the shoe and strap with the glitter.

so working in small sections apply glue directly to the shoe and spread evenly.

hold the shoe over the foil lined box and sprinkle glitter onto the glue. pressing down firmly to set it into place and making sure it doesn't have any empty gaps.

do the same for the strap and other shoe. set both aside to dry.

step 3:

scatter eyes around the shoe to see which placement you like best. both shoes don't have to be the same and look better if they don't.

you can apply glue directly to the shoes surface in sections or on the backing of the eyes its self.

start with the large eyes and fill in the gaps with smaller ones and then start stacking left over over gaps.

Step 4:

peel off the tape and leave your googlie eye shoes to dry over night.

for an extra touch of 3D cuteness I placed fluffy black pom-poms in a row down the backs of the shoes.

once the shoes have completely dried, the little ones will be ready for a spooktacular night.

Rain, Rain go away for my last getaway!

For the past few days its been raining in the Sunshine State. With summer catching its end, school time has already found us and fall is on its tale. We all need a last minute beach retreat, thankfully we haven't missed out on the last of the warm weather; so before it goes into hibernation pack your tote bags and head out there. We of course have some extra special tricks up our umbrella to help you make the best of your LAST MINUTE MINI VACAY. During the mid summer months getting a facial is not a great idea because after the treatment your skin will be sensitive to sunlight, so try and hold off until you are sure you will not be headed back to the shore. Trying to stay cool in any heat is hard but by using blotting papers your face will look fresh and clean. The papers remove the access oils from your face making it feel freshly washed. Always protect your skin and face with a SPF daily even if you are not by the sea. When you apply your favorite sunblock don't forget that mane, most people don't realize sunscreen it great for your hair; it not only protects hair from the harmful UV rays but, when there is no mousse keep track of fly-away strands with a spritz of sunblock. Saltwater is also great for the hair, it is natures super styling product and the reason for those perfect Beach waves. As you're protecting with sunblock, scrunch a little bit of the ocean into your tresses. There are so many wonderful and natural elements that can be used to beautify and the beach definitely is in full supply. If your in need of a spa treatment, I suggest starting at the bottom. Try mixing a bit of sand with your choice of tanning solution/protector and buff out the rough edges of your feet. After a day at the beach the sun might have left your skin feeling tight and dry, soothe it with coconut oil. At night the skin is more absorbent so, the oil will rehydrate easier and if you have stayed out in the sun too long coconut oil will get you back to normal faster. The coconut sent also soothes you into a peaceful nights rest. To keep your last sun made tan glowing, reach for your luminizer and dust daily over your cheekbones, collar and shoulders for a sexy, healthy long lasting effect.

one of Florida's most beautiful beaches. (Ormond beach)

Wishing the rain to clear so I can rush to the beach.

TOP TIPS FOR THE NEW ROUTINE

A FEW RANDOM TIPS TO TOSS AROUND

A FRESH MATTE SKIN TONE  IS THE BEST FOUNDATION TO START A WORK OF ART. THERE ARE MANY FACE PERFECTING FINISHES THAT CAN BE APPLIED BUT WHEN YOU BEGIN TO THINK OF YOUR FACE AND MAKE-UP AS A PORTRAIT YOUR SKIN BECOMES THE CANVAS. A FEATHER LIGHT AND FLAWLESS BASE WILL MAKE THOSE BRIGHT JEWEL TONES POP. AFTER A GREAT MOISTURIZER, DUST A TRANSLUCENT POWDER TO YOUR FACE. ITS EVEN MORE DYNAMIC WITH A HD OR PHOTO READY POWDER.

TRY TO FIND SOME OTHER ALTERNATIVE TO BLACK EYELINER. DARK ORCHID OR BROWN SHIMMER GEL LINER WORK BEAUTIFULLY ON FAIR TO OLIVE SKIN TONES. A SILVERY WINTER WHITE OR CHROME MAKE EYES POP ON A OLIVE TO MEDIUM AND DARKER COMPLEXIONS, THESE COLORS ARE GREAT FOR ADDING DRAMA IN HOLIDAY STYLES.

SKIP THE BRONZER FOR A DAY OR TWO AND CONTOUR THE APPLES OF YOUR CHEEKS WITH TWO SHADES OF PINK BLUSHES. THIS LOOK IS FRESH FUN AND GIVE THE SAME EFFECT AS THE BRONZER WHILE BRIGHTENING YOUR FACE MAKING YOU GLOW.

I WAS GOING THROUGH MY MAKE-UP THINKING OF WAYS TO SWITCH UP THE DAILY ROUTINE. WEARING THE SAME MAKE-UP STYLE EVERYDAY WILL GET BORING, USE THESE TIPS TO SPICE THINGS UP OR USE THEM TO  VENTURE OUT AND FIND YOUR OWN NEW TRICKS AND THEN SHARE THEM WITH US OR YOUR FRIEND'S AT HOME.

FRESH, NEW, OUT OF THE BOX.........CHELLA!

3D Nail Art part 1

The 3D nail trend that's out is so much fun to play around with. I have just tried a real simple DIY look that looks a lot harder than it really is. It is called nail caviar, which is actually opalescent micro craft beads infused with the polish of your choice. The base color polish should match the color bead on top. With only 4 step its very fast to apply even for beginners. Drying time takes about 15 mins so its not an on the run look but if you have enough planning time its something to try.

Directions:

1. Double coat the nail with base polish. (I chose red)

2. While nail is still wet dip in the beads pot. Some beads come in tubes so sprinkle generously. I like dipping better. mixing your bead colors gives a nice twist.

3. Press down firmly on the beads removing any excess hanging over the nail.

4. Allow enough time to dry do not touch anything for at least 15mins. If you choose to apply a top coat wait dry then drying time starts again. Make sure to use crystal clear and do not swipe as per a normal application. Saturate the bristles and tap.

With a 3D wave good bye .........xoxo ~chella

Color blocking nails

Tons of fashions, styles and fad's to choose from and color blocking is an all time high. A cool new way I found that people are color blocking is with nail art. I find this technique so inspiring, with Miss-match fingers, two tone designs or just the odd-man out; so much fun is waiting for you when your trying this do it yourself styling or even beginning your nose dive into the nail art world. There is no wrong way to do this design as long as you like your end result. I don't always have time to do extreme designing so I love how simple and quick something like this is.

Things I can’t live without: Eyeliner

No matter how I am feeling or where I am going the first kind of make-up that comes to my mind is Eyeliner! I love eyes, and I love making my brown eyes stand out. Depending on how you apply your eyeliner it can work for any occasion work, school, or even a night on the town. Putting your eyeliner on the top or bottom of your eyes, making it thick or thin can totally change your look in an instant.

There are three different types of eyeliner: pencil, crayon, and liquid. In general my favorite kind of eyeliner is the crayon type. I was using pencil eyeliner and hated it. It never stayed where I put it and I always ended up with dark tired looking eyes because it would run. Not good. So I went to the store looking for new eyeliner and fell in love with Rimmel London Scandal eyes long-wear waterproof crayon eyeliner. It was a perfect fit for me and for the heat I live in, all day I can wear this and not have to worry about looking into the mirror and fix my eyeliner and wiping away all the black from under my eye.

So if you are looking to make your eyes stand out try some eyeliner first and have fun with it! And remember fans stay above the trends, your personal style comes first always.

Positivity

As the months troll on life starts becoming a routine and somewhat boring. Try and shake things up a bit and do some thing out of the ordinary. It changes your mood and out look for the rest of your day.Finding a project can help keep your mind focused and motivated, little hobbies can give you a break from your average life and space from chaos, as well as introduce you to new people who share you interest. Positivity from others can brighten your mood no matter whats the situation. Having that positivity in your life will shine through you and whether you know if others around you need it or not remaining positive will bring them up too. HAPPINESS and POSITIVITY are contagious and the fastest spreading trend you could wear is a SMILE!

Being Paparazzi Ready

The only only thing worse than taking a horrible picture is knowing you spent hours getting all vamped up just to have your sparkle disappear instead of your reflection.
Your morning long process has to start with a blank canvas, and I mean blank to the pore. Begin with cleansing and prepping the face with your choice of what ever you like best. I have many different products that I use and tricks up my sleeve that I share openly but my favorite is a basic over the counter facial scrub. I like the Buffy feeling.
A million things affect our photos , lights, angle, photographer but the things that  you can control own them. Make up is part of your daily lives and can have the most positive or negative affect. Always use a make up primer if you haven't found a favorite start with HD primers. These primers were created for taking pictures. they allow your make up to do its J O B by giving the air brushed feel and look to your face we all want.
Bright flashes of light expose imperfection. Anything dark or red will try to strike a pose with you. Camouflage as best you can with your skin tone corecter and define your best features with bronzer's and blush. Choosing brands that have light catching flecks will enhance your radiance that no camera can miss.
Shine should be for hair and lips only so blot with oil absorbing sheets keeping them handy at all times and powder your nose and forehead right before any snaps are taken.

As always I welcome our glittery followers, you should too. :-)
get ready for those close ups...... chella~

History of Fashion: Earrings

Hello Chella International fans, this is Miyuki and I will be doing at least once a month blog pieces about the history on different things in fashion. Today I want to share a piece of history about earrings to start of my “History of Fashion” segments.  Earrings originated in Asia and the Middle East some say dating back to third millennium BC which is further back than I would have expected.  The first earring designs were hoops and pendants. They were both very popular with both men and woman. Who said men can’t be fashionable with earrings? Even the Egyptian King Tutankhamen wore earrings. It is said that Egyptians preferred to have their earrings made of Gold while the Greeks would make their earrings with multi-colored gemstones instead.  There are a few reasons why piercing ears and decorating them with jewelry became a trend one is based off a legend that evil spirits were able to enter the body through your ears, so to ward off these possible evil spirits one would of course adorn your ears with metals to keep those nasty spirits at bay.  Earrings were also a way to show your status or what family you were from when your clothing was not able to show the distinction. Also earrings were known to be given to wives as a symbol of marriage and in case of divorce the worth of the earring could secure her financial future. Ladies don’t we all wish up front for a “just in case it don’t work out you don’t have to worry” gift; it sounds like a good idea to me. In some places today in Africa and in the Middle East they still carry out this old practice. Earrings have evolved since these times, from the different styles to the different materials used to make them and to what they stand for today. But at the end earrings just as many different adornments worn today are worn to make a statement, to decorate our bodies and help us feel beautiful and to show the world our own personal style. My personal favorite kind of earrings is the chandelier, like these lovely earrings here:

Remember fans stay above just the trends and remember your personal style comes first always.
Till next time, Miyuki (Mama Snow Writes) ^_^
